Comfort Keepers Presents Our Senior Home Care Caregiver Of The Month

Our caregiver team is our most valuable asset. Those individuals who go out of their way to help seniors increase independence and lead happier, more fulfilled lives are the life force of our company. Every month, we choose a Caregiver of the Month from our outstanding senior home care staff of loving, dedicated caregivers. We like to honor those who are reliable, trustworthy, punctual, and, most of all, caring. They are those who go above and beyond for their clients and who truly have a heart for caring for others.

No matter what their specialty may be, these senior home care experts have given life to the Comfort Keepers ideal of interactive caregiving – they have transformed caregiving into an experience of hope for everyone involved. These men and women are true Comfort Keepers and we thank them for their continued dedication. We love that our caregivers are always willing to go an extra mile to put a smile on the face of their clients.

June 2018

Our Caregiver of the Month for June has been a faithful member of the Comfort Keepers team for 2 years now. Lynne Medina has served her clients with love and attention and we are happy to be able to recognize her efforts! While raising her daughters, she has worked in retail and with children before finding her passion for seniors. Born and raised in the Seattle area, Lynne has found her comfort zone in her relationships with her many clients.

On her days off, Lynne enjoys reading—although not picky about material, she prefers Nicholas Sparks or Ann Rule. She also spends time with her daughters, ages 20 and 15. In fact, she counts her greatest success as raising her girls to be productive, hardworking and successful. Lynne likes caregiving for the different people she has been able to meet and get to know. She is great at both taking care of their practical needs while also forming deep and meaningful friendships with them. It brings a smile to her face to think of being able to joke around with her clients.

Lynne is most proud of how far she has come—from being a teen mom to surviving on her own, she has found a way to make a life that is meaningful, defined by caring, and filled with those she loves. Independence and self-sufficiency are two of the traits Lynne prizes and she has certainly achieved them! While she works to get her younger daughter graduated from high school and on the path to nursing school, Lynne also thinks about continuing her own education; phlebotomy is an area she is interested in learning more about.

Lynne’s friends would describe her as friendly, caring and positive—all traits which both endear her to her clients and make her an excellent caregiver. She uses these traits to form the afore-mentioned relationships with all those she cares for, regardless of how long she is able to serve a particular client. Her tools and tips include: “Don’t take anything personally!” and “Always look for ways to have fun and make things lighthearted, even when you’re tired.” Burnout is part of caregiving, but looking for the joy helps change your outlook on a situation.

Lynne has been impacted most by the clients themselves and their stories. “Their personality leaves something with you, even if you just interact with them for a short time.” We are so thankful to have Lynne on our team and are happy to call her June’s Caregiver of the Month!
